Postcard from Downe

Had a great time at Downe in spite of the rain! We fed the animals at Christmas Tree Farm, enjoyed sitting round the camp fire and taking part in all our activities! We enjoyed seeing the sun shine on Friday.

See you soon, Love the Meridian Campers

Go Team Meridian

Well done to to our aqua ambassadors who put in a great performance in the pool on Friday 1st July. There were lots of fantastic races and individual medals won during the annual gala. Everyone contributed to the team effort and we came second in the Small Schools category (we narrowly missed winning with only 1 point in it!) The boys were placed third overall in the whole competition and Meridian came fourth out of 18 schools, many much bigger than us.

A proud night for Team Meridian - congratulations everyone!

Postcard from Wiltshire

After hosting All Cannings Primary School in the Autumn, Y5 children visited their peers in Wiltshire in early July.

Highlights of their trip included smores and hot chocolate round the fire at forest schools, pizza and football in the evening and spending their day doing some D&T with lolly pop sticks and newspaper.

Olympics-inspired Summer Fair

Rain did not stop play on Saturday 1st as the 2016 “Summer Games” Fair took place. Thanks to Nikki and everyone involved in the organisation and running of the fair. It was lots of fun and a huge success so a big thank you to all our volunteers and visitors for making it such a special day. A special mention for Giles as this year’s gunging champion!

Turning ideas into reality

Our new ball court is on it’s way—thank you to everyone in FROMS, the children and the wider school community for all the fantastic fundraising efforts.

A giant cheque for £29,000 was handed over by representatives of FROMS to school and work begins in the summer holidays!

Meridian hits the stage

The summer term has seen some wonderful performances by Meridian children.

Monday 11th July - within its huge and inspiring space, Greenwich Dance Agency hosted Meridian children as each class performed their dance inspired by what they have been learning in science this term—from frogs to DNA each dance was unique and children rose to the challenge and showed how much progress they have made since last year.

Wednesday , 13th July - Y4 delivered their first performance in the opera, Carmen. They played their parts so well and their singing was incredible!

Y6 practised hard and wowed their audiences on Thursday, 14th July as they acted, sang and danced (with a bit of gymnastics thrown into the mix) in their end of year performance of Meridian Millionaire. Based on the famous gameshow, they used their memorable experiences of life at Meridian to entertain a very appreciative audience. They are looking forward to their day at the seaside on Monday.

Friday 15th July - The Castle Group ventured to the West End with PTR and Y6I children to watch their play being performed by professional actors. Well done children!
