Friends of Meridian School (FROMS)

FROMS hopes to gain your active support. FROMS has two roles: To provide closer links between home and school FROMS events encourage staff, parents and friends to come together socially in support of the school working towards a common goal. All parents and carers can get involved if they want to, even if they only have a small amount of time available, and all parents are automatically members of FROMS when they join our school. Fundraising Although we are a small school we have very generous supporters and over the last few years FROMS has been very succesful in its fundraising. Monies raised have been used to buy: - new soft seating, furniture and audio equipment for the school library; - new sports & play equipment and markings for the playground; - mobile staging which is used for school assemblies and performances; - a new portable music system and PA system. In 2007 we were able to contribute £4,000 to the overall budget for the redevelopment of the outdoor playspace which started in Spring 2007. Stage 3 of the Garden Project began in in 2009 and again FROMS was able to play its part in making this a reality. In May 2009, the school community was asked to vote on this project and with their support, FROMS was able to contribute £7,000 to the overall project. The "not so real" grass has proved to be a big hit with the children. FROMS is a registered charity with a written constitution, which lays down rules about how we operate as a PTA. All new parents receive a copy of our guide which explains how FROMS works, what they do and how you can get involved. Further copies can be obtained from the office. FROMS hosts a regular coffee and chat session (last Friday of each month at 9.30am in the bottom hall) which all parents and carers are welcome to attend. We also produce a termly newsletter and regular updates throughout the year (see above). Please look out for any updates on the noticeboard or in your child's book bag.
