Our School

Nestled between Greenwich Park and the River Thames, Meridian Primary School has been serving the local community in East Greenwich since 1888. We take our name from the Meridian Line which runs through our playground and school buildings.

Meridian is a community Primary School with a Nursery and a Local Authority Resourced Provision (LARP) for 12 deaf children, following an aural/oral approach to communication.   We are federated with Robert Owen Nursery School. Deaf and other children with special needs learn alongside their hearing peers. We are a one form entry school which means that 30 children join and leave us each year in Reception.

Our school population reflects the cultural and social diversity of the borough of Greenwich. The result is a broad community where children from a variety of backgrounds are encouraged to learn and grow alongside each other.  We practice anti-racist behaviours and work hard to create a sense of belonging for all our children.

The school office is open during term time from 8am until 4:30pm. The school gate opens at 8:45am each morning and all children leave the playground at 3:20pm.  We have a breakfast club which opens at 7:30am and a Play Club which runs from the end of the school day until 5:45pm Monday to Friday.  This wraparound care is open to all children in Reception to Year 6.

We do not have a school uniform at Meridian.
