PE & Sports At Meridian

At Meridian we value the contribution that sport can make to children’s enjoyment of school, their health and well-being and overall development.  Participation in sports through lessons, playground opportunities, competitions, performances, extra-curricular clubs and whole school events enables our children to develop important skills for independent lifelong learning – such as resilience, confidence, a sense of fair play and team work.  Sport is one way of the many ways in which we can overcome barriers to learning and we aim to teach our children about the success of others and show them the possibilities for themselves.

PE Curriculum:

The school works in partnership with many other agencies to support the delivery of high quality PE and School Sport and meet the national curriculum.  Partnerships include - Greenwich Dance Agency, Blackheath Cricket Club, Charlton F.C., GLL, ActivKids, local cluster of schools, the LA advisory service.

We also provide a range of extra curricular sporting activities and promote children's leadership skills.

Sports Premium

The government has allocated Sports Premium funding to primary school Headteachers to improve the provision of P.E. and school sport.
