We are delighted that Ofsted has recognised the continued success of our school in its recent letter. Following an interim assessment, Ofsted confirmed that our performance had been sustained since the last inspection. Please click on the link to read the letter issued by Ofsted for parents.
The Local Authority said, ‘It is a great compliment that Ofsted are reassured and confident that Meridian is a great place to learn - as are we.’
We continue to be proud of the hard work of the school team — children, staff, parents and governors — and the improvements we continue to build across the whole school. Well done everyone and thank you for your on-going support.
The overall findings were: “Meridian is a good school. It has consolidated its previous successes and made further improvements. Senior leaders have taken the school forward with an able team which shares their vision for the school. Improvements have been made in pupils’ attainment and progress in mathematics and English, particularly in writing. The school’s outstanding care is part and parcel of the way that the school deals with all of its pupils, including special education needs and/or disabilities, and is greatly appreciated by parents and carers.”

MARCH 2009 - Science Inspection
All aspects of this subject were assessed by Ofsted in March and we were given a "Good" overall, for achievement and learning, teaching and learning, subject leadership and assessment. The feedback letter from Ofsted can be read by clicking on the above link.
We were graded overall as “Good” with “Outstanding” aspects – in particular the personal development and well being of the pupils. We were very pleased with the report as it accurately reflected the strengths of the school and recognised the high standards which are maintained on a daily basis.
The opening paragraph of the report reads:
“Meridian is a very effective school where pupils achieve well and have outstanding personal development. This is due to the school’s excellent pastoral care, creative curriculum, good teaching and good leadership and management. It is a truly inclusive school where careful attention to the needs and interests of all pupils results in the school being so successful.”
The inspector identified two things we should do to improve further:
• Build on the existing strategies to raise achievement further in writing across the school
• Improve the quality of teaching so that it is all at least good, particularly with regard to challenge given to higher attaining pupils.
