Ofsted Inspection

Our latest inspection took place on 9th July 2008 and we were graded overall as “Good” with “Outstanding” aspects – in particular the personal development and well being of the pupils. We are very pleased with the report as it accurately reflects the strengths of the school and recognises the high standards which are maintained on a daily basis. The opening paragraph of the report reads: “Meridian is a very effective school where pupils achieve well and have outstanding personal development. This is due to the school’s excellent pastoral care, creative curriculum, good teaching and good leadership and management. It is a truly inclusive school where careful attention to the needs and interests of all pupils results in the school being so successful.” The inspector identified two things we should do to improve further: • Build on the existing strategies to raise achievement further in writing across the school • Improve the quality of teaching so that it is all at least good, particularly with regard to challenge given to higher attaining pupils. We will be working on these issues in the current school year and beyond. To read a full copy of the inspection report please click on the above link.
